FACULTY OF BIOENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

Dean's Message

Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Sarizam bin Mamat

Thanks to Allah S.W.T for His grace and mercy. I wish to give my gratitude to Allah SWT because, although the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FBKT) is in its fifth year of operation as a faculty on April 1, 2017, many successes have been achieved that show the highest teamwork among faculty members.

Although the faculty still struggles with various challenges and obstacles especially in obtaining prospective students and more conducive laboratory facilities and in developing the programme we are still able to achieve many successes with the human resource potential of the faculty. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and extend my heartfelt thanks to all the faculty members who have shown their commitment to ensure that every effort we make has a meaningful impact not only on the faculty but also on the university, society and the State of Kelantan. I hope that this commitment and support will grow and continue to make FBKT ”Relevent, Respected and Referred” in the academic, research and development programmes, human resources, students and graduates that will be created as long as we are all on this beloved campus. FBKT members are encouraged to continue their efforts in developing a new culture that is always harmonious, positive, cooperative and complementary to each other in carrying out all tasks and roles for future faculty development.

FBKT has three departments, namely the Department of Basic Science, Technology and Engineering, Department of Energy Technology, Minerals and Materials, and Department of Bio- Technology and Natural Resources. These three departments play an important role in developing academic programmes, human resources and facilities under their respective departments.

To develop and introduce the FBKT name, all staff have undertaken promotional work for academic programmes to attract students from STPM, Matriculation, STAM and Diploma to enrol into FBKT. Besides, the staff has also intensified efforts in government and non-government agencies, public and private universities, polytechnics, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and related industries in the field of FBKT. The effort is to expand the cooperation and network of the industry whether to get diploma students to be absorbed into the first degree at FBKT, the field of research and community service. I look forward to welcoming any involvement from industry and institutions to jointly improve science-based education and technology in Malaysia. Thank you.
