A group of researchers led by ChM Ts Dr Nor Hakimin Bin Abdullah from the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology, UMK has won a gold medal in the VIRTUAL INNOVATION COMPETITION 2021 (VIC21). VIC21 is a competition related to research and innovation organized by the UiTM Kelantan Branch in collaboration with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT) and the Indian Innovators Association which was held on 1 June - 29 September 2021 online. Apart from winning the gold medal, FBKT researchers also won a Special Award (Merit of Achievement).
The title of innovation is “Waste to Wealth; A Novel Biodegradable Composites from Agriculture Waste for Drug Delivery”, while the main vision and mission of the innovation are to implement the waste to wealth concept where the biocomposite was prepared from the oil palm trunk and can be potentially used for oral drug delivery. It is hoped that the excellence of innovation at FBKT will be maintained in the future.
