The Bachelor of Information Technology with Honours provides the opportunity for students to gain knowledge and skills in science and technology, which is in line with government policy towards The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). The program duration is 8 Semesters (4 Years) and has 2 tracks:
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
2. Data Science
Students will be able to choose one of these track upon receiving their examination results in Semester 4. The current and future economies of the country and world will depend on Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analysis, Robotics, IoT and automation. Graduates of this program will have a bright career and opportunities in the public and private sectors both locally and international.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of science that is able to mimic human actions and thinking to make computers, software or applications become intelligent as humans. Among widely known AI applications are Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. AI combines various fields of knowledge including IT, Computer Science and Math. AI-based technology can solve a wide range of problems that cannot be easily solved by humans and can be applied in a variety of critical sectors such as health, business, agriculture, and manufacturing. The track of AI in this program will expose students to specific AI subjects namely Practise in AI, Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Evolution and other elective subjects that students can choose.
Data Science is a multidisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to gain knowledge and insights from data in many forms. Data Science uses techniques and theories derived from Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. One of the main components of Data Science is Big Data. The development of Big Data and availability of technology have spurred the growth of innovations and opened up space for government and private agencies to improve quality of services for the people. The track of Data Science in this program will expose students to topics that focus on Data Science namely Introduction to Data Science, Practices in Big Data, Data Mining and Applications, Scientific Visualization and a few other elective subjects that students can choose.
