Bachelor of Forest Resources Technology with Honours

The Bachelor of Forest Resources Technology with Honours emphasises the sustainable and innovative utilisation of forest resources to support both ecological balance and industrial development. The programme blends traditional forestry knowledge with modern technology, preparing graduates to manage, process, and innovate with forest-based resources in ways that are environmentally responsible and economically competitive.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of forest ecosystems and materials through courses in silviculture, dendrology, medicinal and non-timber forest products, pulp and paper technology, bioenergy, and advanced processing of wood and non-wood materials. The curriculum also integrates Industry 4.0 applications such as digital forest inventory, precision forestry, and smart manufacturing, ensuring graduates are prepared for the evolving natural resource sector.

In addition to technical expertise, students will be exposed to entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability practices. They will learn how to transform forest resources into value-added products, such as engineered timber, furniture, paper, bio-based energy, and medicinal products, while adhering to the principles of conservation and responsible resource management.

Graduates of this programme will be equipped to contribute as forest technologists, bio-resource innovators, product development specialists, sustainability consultants, and entrepreneurs in wood and non-wood industries. They will play an important role in advancing Malaysia’s and the region’s forestry sector towards a greener economy, where technology and sustainability are aligned.
